Days between dates calculator
Pick a start date and an end date to count the days between them. The answer also gives the weeks, and the years, months and days, and you can count the end day too.
How it works
The calculator subtracts one calendar date from the other. It counts every day, weekends and holidays included, and a leap day counts like any other. Because it works with dates and not with hours, a change of the clock in spring or autumn never moves the answer.
The same span is shown in three ways. The first is the plain number of days. The second splits it into whole weeks and the days that are left. The third counts whole calendar months from the earlier date and then the days after the last one: a month that is too short for the day of the start ends on its last day.
The end day is not counted unless you ask. From the 1st to the 5th is 4 days, and 5 with the box checked.
A worked example
From Sunday, November 1, 2026 to Friday, December 25, 2026 there are 54 days. That is 7 weeks and 5 days, or 0 years, 1 month and 24 days. With the end day counted as well, the answer is 55 days.
From January 1 to December 31, 2026 there are 364 days, and 365 when both days count, which is the length of the whole year.
What it leaves out
The calculator counts every day. To leave out weekends and public holidays, use the business days calculator. It does not use the time of day, so it cannot count hours or minutes.
Questions
How many days are there between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later one. From November 1 to December 25, 2026 there are 54 days. If the end day counts as well, there are 55.
Is the start date or the end date counted?
Subtracting dates counts the days after the start day up to the end day, so from the 1st to the 5th is 4 days. Check the box to count the end day too and it is 5. Use the box when both the first and the last day count, as in the days of a trip.
How many weeks are between two dates?
Divide the days by 7. A span of 54 days is 7 weeks and 5 days, and the calculator gives the whole weeks and the days that are left.
Does the order of the dates matter?
No. If the end date is before the start date, the days are the same, and the page says that it counted from the end date to the start date.
How many days are left until a date?
The start date begins as today, so enter the day you are waiting for as the end date. The answer is the number of days from today to that day.
